Via the drinking water ONLY.
Water used for the administration of live virus vaccine must be non-chlorinated.
If medications or disinfectants are being given or used in the chickens' drinking water, discontinue their use at least 24 hours before administering this vaccine, and do not resume use for 24 hours following final consumption of the vaccine-containing water.
Provide enough waterers so that at least two-thirds of the birds may drink at one time. Wash waterers with fresh, clean, non-chlorinated water and use NO disinfectant. Then, let the waterers drain dry.
Turn off automatic waterers, so that the only available water is the vaccine water (from ordinary waterers). Do not give vaccine water through medication tanks.
To stimulate thirst, withhold water for 1-2 hours before vaccination.
Remove aluminium seal from vial providing 1 000 doses of vaccine.
Remove rubber stopper and half-fill vial with clean, cool, non-chlorinated water.
Replace stopper tightly and shake vial until vaccine is thoroughly dispersed.
Use a clean container two-thirds filled with cool, clean, non-chlorinated water. To this, add 0,5 % (5 g/l) dried skimmed milk powder. Shake the container until the milk power is dissolved.
Be certain to add the milk powder first. Then, add the rehydrated vaccine from the vial and again shake the container thoroughly.
Mix the required number of doses of vaccine into an amount of water which will be consumed by the chickens in approximately 1 hour.
The following table can be used as a guideline:
Number of doses |
For Fowls older than 4 weeks Quantity of water |
1 000 |
20 litres |
Distribute the final volume of vaccine water evenly amongst the clean waterers. Do not place the waterers in direct sunlight. Resume regular water administration only after all the vaccine water has been consumed.Keep a record of vaccine serial number and expiry date, date of receipt and date of vaccination.
