-
Intermediate, modified, live, infectious bursal disease virus of chick-embryo origin. Lyophilized.
-
For the prevention of infectious bursal disease (IBD) - also known as Gumboro disease - when administered as directed to healthy chickens 7-28 days of age. Bursine-2 is particularly suited for use in flocks where maternal antibodies have interfered in active immunisation using the milder live virus vaccines. Bursine-2 is well suited to the priming of breeder replacement pullets prior to vaccination with an inactivated IBD vaccine. If chickens are vaccinated at an age earlier than 7 days, revaccination at 14-28 days of age may be necessary.
-
Use only as directed.
If medications or disinfectants are being given or used in the chickens' drinking water, discontinue their use at least 24 hours before administering this vaccine, and do not resume use for 24 hours following final consumption of the vaccine-container water.Water used for the administration of live-virus vaccine must be non-chlorinated.Provide enough waterers so that at least two thirds of the chickens may drink at one time. Wash waterers with fresh, clean, non-chlorinated water, and use NO disinfectant. Allow the waterers to drain dry.Turn off automatic waterers, so that the only available water is the vaccine water (from ordinary waterers). Do not give vaccine water through medication tanks. To stimulate thirst, withhold water for 1-2 hours before vaccination.Remove aluminium seal from vial.Remove rubber stopper and half fill vial with clean, cool, non-chlorinated water.Replace stopper tightly and shake vial until vaccine is thoroughly dispersed.Use a clean container two thirds filled with cool, clean, non-chlorinated water. To this, add 0,5 % (5 g/l) skimmed dried milk powder. Shake the container until the dried milk is dissolved.Be certain to add the dried milk first. Then, add the dissolved vaccine from the vial and again shake the container thoroughly.Mix the required number of doses of vaccine into a quantity of water which will be consumed by the birds in approximately one hour. The following table can be used as a guideline:
Number of doses |
For 2 - 4 week old fowls Quantity of water |
1 000 |
10 ℓ |
2 500 |
25 ℓ |
5 000 |
50 ℓ |
Distribute the final volume of vaccine water evenly among the clean waterers. Do not place the waterers in direct sunlight. Resume regular water administration only after all the vaccine water has been consumed.
